The event was called the One and Only Craft Hill in Sandy Hill, and it was well attended. A former art teacher was there selling her creations. Yulia taught my watercolor class seven years ago at the Glebe Community Centre. I remember encouraging each student by exclaiming “Wow, Wow, Wow” in response to all of our creations.
The vendor next to me was representing Octopus Studio and recognized me, and I recognized her as well. We initially couldn’t figure out how we knew each other, but then she exclaimed, “I know who you are!” It turned out that we both worked at the same retirement home in Ottawa. My time at the retirement home was when I began creating illustrations during the day and working as a receptionist in the evenings.
On the other side of the kitchen from me was the Ghost of Kat, a local artist I know from a part-time job I once had at a local art and picture framing shop.
This was a new event for me to attend but filled with nostalgia all the same.
